My Views:
This masque has a nice thick consistency which I loved;
it is white in colour and smells exactly like the shampoo (read my review of the shampoo here). Unfortunately, every Shea Moisture product I’ve tried has failed
me and this masque was no exception. It has little to no slip and using it with
the Yucca and Plantain shampoo yielded the worst results, my hair was left
feeling weighed down with a waxy feel to it and I got the added bonus of an
itchy scalp. My hair suffered less when I used it with my Giovanni Smooth as Silk
shampoo and sat under my hair steamer. This masque claims to bind split ends which
I knew was just marketing but I at least expected it to condition my hair.
There are way better hair masques/deep conditioners on the market which are a
lot more cost effective. I won’t be purchasing anymore Shea Moisture products
any time soon.

So sorry to read your experience with this one and the shampoo. I've read a lot of shea moisture reviews and it appears their different ranges have very very different effects on hair. The same person can loathe one and confer holy grail status on the other.
ReplyDeleteI've tried a few of their products and had a similar experience. Some very bleh, others awesometastic. Reading reviews online helps me pick which is best for my own hair type/needs.
This one has been very helpful. I don't think I'll be buying this range.
A lot of their products seems to be hit or miss, based on other reviews the old formulas worked great. Unfortunately I was not in a position to read reviews when I was buying these, it was a spur of the moment thing.
DeleteThe first time I used the masque, I ended up with tangled hair. Tried it one more time and although I didn't have matted hair, it just didn't have any slip. I used it on my daughter's fine natural hair and it performed much better. I think you can still try their newest lines. I think they might perform better.
ReplyDeleteWell I hope the other lines do perform better but I'm not about to shell out my hard earned money to find out lol I love trying new products, especially deep conditioners so I'm taking my cash elsewhere.
DeleteI have the version of the masque with Baobab instead of Plantain. It's tucked away in the back of my cupboard and has been for awhile...so i guess i didn't like it but now I'm a bit intrigued to test it out again. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
ReplyDeleteYou may like it, most of the reviewers seem to like the old version better.
DeleteConditioning is beneficial in both dry weather and humid conditions as it prevents loss of moisture in dry weather and unwanted excess water vapor absorption in the humid environment.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Kate!
DeleteDeep Conditioning is definitely beneficial whether rain, sun or snow.
