<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">I did my touch-up about three weeks ago one
day shy of 12 weeks post.</span><a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: Calibri;"> I have plans for the end of the year and I want to be able to do my last
touch up for this year by the end of December plus get a good hair cut to kick
off the New Year. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Unlike my previous touch up, I started by parting my hair
into four sections since my new growth was not cooperating, then I parted those
four sections into smaller sections and twisted it to help speed up my
application time.</span><br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Scalp and previously relaxed ends coated with castor oil and petroleum jelly</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Other than this, my method of applying my relaxer and the
products that I used stayed the same as in my April and July 2015 touch-ups. </span><span style="font-family: Calibri;">My plan was to flat iron my hair and trim my ends like I
usually do after my touch-ups, unfortunately I didn’t have time.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><o:p></o:p></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">I've had two wash days since I did my touch-up, the first
one which took place last week ended in a curlformers set. I trimmed about an
inch from each section as I installed the curlformers since I can’t guarantee that I will be flat ironing any time soon.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">The set did not turn out as I wanted;
I tried sleeping in the curlformers but couldn’t so I removed them before my
hair was completely dry. Even though it took me over an hour to install the curlformers it was relatively easy once I got the hang of it, I will definitely be giving this a go again.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span><br />

<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">I did my second wash day on Sunday evening with the
intention of doing a roller set that didn’t happen. That wash day ended with
my hair being air dried, I didn’t have the will or patience to do a roller set. Hopefully I can give it a go on my next wash day.</span><br />

<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">My Views:<o:p></o:p></span></b><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">This cleansing conditioner has a light pleasant fragrance
which I really like as it won’t trigger my migraines. The product is extremely
thick and creamy, consequently the packaging does not suit the consistency of
the product, I got really annoyed and had to remove the cover to get the
product out of the bottle. Packaging aside, I was really impressed with this cleansing
conditioner. It works great for my daughter and I, it leaves our hair feeling
clean but very soft and moisturized, it also rinses well leaving no residue or
build up on our hair. Of all the co-washes I’ve tried this is by far THE BEST. It
produces very little lather so don’t expect lather like in the shampoo commercials.
This cleanser does a great job of getting your hair clean without stripping it.
My only complaints with this product are the price and the packaging so I give
it an eight out of ten. I’ve never used it as a leave-in so I can’t speak to
that but I would highly recommend this cleansing conditioner.<o:p></o:p></span><br />

<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">This masque has a nice thick consistency which I loved;
it is white in colour and smells exactly like the <a href="http://myhealthyhairdiary.blogspot.com/2015/09/product-review-shea-moisture-yucca.html#more" target="_blank">shampoo (read my review of the shampoo here). </a>Unfortunately, every Shea Moisture product I’ve tried has failed
me and this masque was no exception. It has little to no slip and using it with
the Yucca and Plantain shampoo yielded the worst results, my hair was left
feeling weighed down with a waxy feel to it and I got the added bonus of an
itchy scalp. My hair suffered less when I used it with my Giovanni Smooth as Silk
shampoo and sat under my hair steamer. This masque claims to bind split ends which
I knew was just marketing but I at least expected it to condition my hair.
There are way better hair masques/deep conditioners on the market which are a
lot more cost effective. I won’t be purchasing anymore Shea Moisture products
any time soon.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Calibri;">This shampoo is cream in colour and smells like a mix of
flowers and green plantains. It has a thick creamy consistency and lathers very
well for a sulfate free shampoo which I loved but beyond that I wasn’t
impressed. I expected this shampoo to at least help strengthen my hair yet
leave it feeling soft but it did no such thing. My hair never felt clean or moisturized
after using this product instead I always felt like I didn’t properly shampoo
my hair, it definitely doesn’t live up to its claims. This shampoo is not worth
the price nor would I recommend it.<o:p></o:p></span><br />

<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">My Views:<o:p></o:p></span></b></div>
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Even though the reviews on this line are very mixed I
wanted for us to try it anyways. The masque smells the same as the shampoo but
it is white in colour. <a href="http://myhealthyhairdiary.blogspot.com/2015/08/product-review-shea-moisture-raw-shea.html#more" target="_blank">Read my review of the shampoo here!</a> This product looks
like a thick masque but actually has the consistency of a leave in conditioner,
it was very thin and runny; the runniest masque I’ve ever seen or used. Calling
this a masque is an insult; I have rinse out and leave in conditioners that are
thicker than this masque. Once we started to apply this masque we realize that
it also has no slip whatsoever. After rinsing out the masque I knew nothing
good came out from this shea moisture experience. This product does nothing of what
it claims, my hair was a tangled mess after using this masque. My daughter immediately
exclaimed that she hated these shea moisture products, her hair felt squeaky
clean rather than moisturized after washing out this masque. Thankfully I used
this product early in my stretch because it could have been a disaster detangling. I won't ever repurchase this masque, it's not worth my time or money.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span><br />

<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">My Views:<o:p></o:p></span></b><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">I brought this shampoo out of curiosity for the shea
moisture line. It is extremely pricey for a shampoo so that has been a turn off
since the start of my hair journey but I came across it while at my local
beauty supply store and my product junkie ways reared its ugly head. This
shampoo is light yellow in colour, has a very thick, creamy consistency. I
really don’t care for the smell, it smells like old/stale shea butter but for a
sulfate free shampoo this shampoo lathers very well. Everything was well with
this shampoo up until we rinsed it out, it left my daughter’s hair feel
stripped and dry and it left mine very tangled. This product does not live up
to its claims of helping to moisturize or repair; it left our hair feeling like
we used a cheap clarifying shampoo rather than a sulfate free shampoo. <o:p></o:p></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">My daughter hated this shampoo from the first use and I
have to agree with her. I would give this shampoo a one out of ten; it gets one
point because of the creamy consistency which was the only thing I liked. This
product was not worth the price for me and I think it’s clear by what I wrote
that I won’t ever be repurchasing.<o:p></o:p></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><strong>Have you used this shampoo? What did you think of it?<o:p></o:p></strong></span>Candicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11724240230103975162noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1593988516625560192.post-83065336420423385932015-08-12T01:04:00.000-04:002015-08-12T01:04:39.576-04:00I've Been Featured!!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">I did my touch-up three weeks ago at exactly 12 weeks
post. This is officially my shortest stretch ever </span><a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: Calibri;">and I guarantee that it won’t
get any shorter, one of my personal rules when stretching is that it must never
be shorter than 12 weeks. I did my touch-up using the same process and products
as my last touch-up in <a href="http://myhealthyhairdiary.blogspot.com/2015/04/relaxer-touch-up-april-2015.html" target="_blank">April</a>. I did not get around
to flat ironing my hair until a week later when I did my first wash, this
was my results two days later. Those of you on Instagram would have already seen this.</span><br />
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><o:p></o:p></span> </div>

</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">I trimmed an inch off each section while flat ironing and
would love to take off more since I’m still not pleased with my ends but I
would have to wait since I want to maintain blunt ends and I won’t be able to
achieve that if I cut my hair myself. I am slowly bouncing back from my setback.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">My plan going forward is to continue to do 12 week touch-ups
until the end of the year then do a nice cut to kick off the New Year. Right now
my hair is grazing BSL (Bra Strap Length), if all goes well I can start 2016 at full BSL.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Four weeks ago I fell off the T25 wagon, my laptop
decided to act up the Monday after my last fitness Friday post and things went
a little uphill.<o:p></o:p></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span><br />
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: Calibri;">I have both Insanity and T25 and I’ve learned the hard
way that when you do those workouts you need as much ventilation as possible,
even with all the AC’s on full blast and two 20 inch fans I feel like I will
pass out from all the heat my body is generating when doing these workouts so I
do them outside and I need my laptop for that. </span><span style="font-family: Calibri;">For the last four weeks I did not workout five days a
week but I did work out.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span><br />
<h4>
The First Week:</h4>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">I worked out three days that week; Tuesday, Wednesday and
Thursday. My laptop messed me up the Monday but I refused to let that stop me,
there are a lot of quick workouts online so I chose four Tabata workouts that Tuesday, these are the ones I did that week,</span><br />
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">

The Second Week:</h4>
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">I worked out four days that week, Monday and Tuesday I did
Jackie Xtreme Timesaver Training which had me sore and
Wednesday and Thursday I did UFC Personal Trainer on my Xbox 360. </span></div>

<h4 class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
The Third week (last week):</h4>
<h4 class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<o:p></o:p> </h4>
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">I worked out three days, Monday I did a group workout
with an instructor, Tuesday I used my Xbox 360 and did Zumba Rush and Thursday I
did Jackie Power Circuit Training, I pushed myself and used 5lb weights for
this workout, it was only 5lbs but it left me sore as hell.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/81bFzUNi-SL._SL1500_.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/81bFzUNi-SL._SL1500_.jpg" height="320" width="225" /></a></div>

</div>
<h4>
This week:</h4>
<br />
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">I worked out three days, I did the T25 bonus DVD Core
Speed on Tuesday, a YouTube workout – BeFit Total Body Conditioning Level 2 on
Thursday and T25 Total Body Circuit this morning.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><o:p></o:p></span> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Since I only did week one of T25 I’m just going to
continue from week two, I don’t see the sense in starting over because the
programme requires that you do the same six workouts for five weeks to complete
the Alpha stage. <o:p></o:p></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">I really enjoyed Jackie Warner’s DVDs even though they
left me sore, I have at least four of her DVDs, I will be sure to utilize them
in the future.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Calibri;">I survived!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><a name='more'></a></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">I’ve completed my first week of T25 and so far so good.
There is one workout from Monday to Thursday and two on Fridays but I only did
one since on Fridays I will be doing my workouts in the morning before I leave
home. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">I won’t lie to you guys, it was hard getting started, the
first day, Monday, I sat in my workout clothes for over six hours and ended up
doing the workout after midnight. Tuesday and Wednesday I did better, I only procrastinated
in my workout clothes for about two or three hours before I got started, things
to do around the house just kept popping up, ladies you know how it is right??..........all
judgemental people can take a seat between these two brackets.......(<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>) </span><br />
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">So far I don’t find the workouts to be tough, getting my
mind around working out regularly is more of a battle. The only day I felt a
little soreness was yesterday when the focus was abs, even though I’m not sore
all over I sweat and in my mind that equals fat melting.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">

<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Hi Everyone!</span><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><a name='more'></a>This is my first fitness Friday post, I could say I’m
excited but I’ll be lying. I don’t have a story, I was never fat or overweight,
well, I don’t look overweight is a better statement but I do have a sweet touch
and I am gaining weight so it’s about time I nip this thing in the bud. </span><br /></div>
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">I HATE exercising so it’s never something I look forward
to but I want that killer body and some fool said I have to work for it. I know
diet plays a big part and I have a lot of work to do in that department but for
now one step at a time.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">
<br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">My Plan:</span></div>
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">

<span style="font-family: Calibri;">I will be starting the Focus T-25 workout by Shaun T on Monday,
I always say I’m going to start working out but always find an excuse when the
day comes. Now I’m putting it out there so I can be more accountable, if anyone
has the programme and want to do this with me I’ll be eternally grateful
because I am more likely to stick to it when I have accountability buddies.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Hi everyone!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><a name='more'></a></span><br />
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">I am hoping to do my touch up sometime next week so this
wash day was all about preparing my hair for the relaxer; these are the steps I
took:</span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt 36pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; text-indent: -18pt;">

Aphogee Two-step Protein Treatment and sat under my hooded dryer for 30 minutes.
I love using this product before a touch-up and I would recommend to anyone
with severe breakage. </span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt 36pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; text-indent: -18pt;">

and applied Aphogee Balancing Moisturizer for 5 minutes. I have a like hate
relationship with this product and can’t wait for it to finish.</span></div>

help with detangling I also applied some Macadamia Healing Oil Treatment. I
came across a few tangles but nothing terrible, my shed hairs are always the
culprit. </span></div>

<span style="font-family: Calibri;">How was your last wash day?</span>Candicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11724240230103975162noreply@blogger.com16tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1593988516625560192.post-5788765698312213402015-03-15T01:08:00.000-04:002015-03-15T01:08:03.329-04:00Hair Update<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://images.cpcache.com/merchandise/514_230x230_NoPeel.jpg?region=name:FrontCenter,id:16583705,w:16" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://images.cpcache.com/merchandise/514_230x230_NoPeel.jpg?region=name:FrontCenter,id:16583705,w:16" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">As you all know, I suffered my 2<span style="font-size: x-small;">nd</span> setback at
the end of last year, it has been a big turn off for me going through 2
setbacks 2 years in a row, both at the hands of hairdressers. I keep asking
myself how could a simple wash and set turn out so horrendous?? Twice!!??
</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><a name='more'></a></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Since suffering my last setback I kept up with my weekly
washes but did not look forward to doing them because my ends where not what it
used to be. Even though my ends do not look see-through when I look in the
mirror I was tempted to big chop again so I installed a weave for 4 weeks
during the Carnival season. I took the weave out a few days ago and based on
what I saw in the mirror after I washed my hair, I decided then to do a
series of mini trims instead of a haircut. <a href="http://myhealthyhairdiary.blogspot.com/2015/03/relaxer-touch-up.html" target="_blank">(I even mentioned my plan in my last post)</a></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Well ladies, apparently, what I’m seeing in the mirror
and what is are two totally different things.</span><br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvBD2fUc1ESMvXooEHQNGvgD0F7XiL0AvIoOXUB3-ldX_0kujH8jZCLrODb15h1S6gI-eOgryYJBvAZMAxsTanimKbLSvCkgTUtpdwxLUdeIVp5ffuqENENiPyOwA3gPYxWZ_usMTQp2c/s1600/20150313_182245.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvBD2fUc1ESMvXooEHQNGvgD0F7XiL0AvIoOXUB3-ldX_0kujH8jZCLrODb15h1S6gI-eOgryYJBvAZMAxsTanimKbLSvCkgTUtpdwxLUdeIVp5ffuqENENiPyOwA3gPYxWZ_usMTQp2c/s1600/20150313_182245.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Setback #2</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">A picture does speak a thousand words!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Saying that I am shocked is an understatement; either my
eyes or my mirror is playing games with me. I have trimmed my hair twice since
that dreadful day last year and was about to trim again this wash day when my
daughter suggested I take a picture. I normally take pictures when I flat iron
my hair for length checks but she got fed up of me moping and complaining and
wanted to prove that it doesn’t look horrible, well now even she is doubting her own eyes.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">I am now back to the point of wanting to do another big
chop and start all over again, those ends have to go one way or the other. The one thing I’m sure about now is that no one
is touching my hair again.</span>Candicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11724240230103975162noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1593988516625560192.post-33083400066825098392015-03-13T00:49:00.001-04:002015-03-13T00:51:38.846-04:00December 2014 Relaxer Touch-Up<h3>

<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><a name='more'></a>I did my last touch up of 2014 a few days shy of 14 weeks
post because I was leaving for a mini vacation the next day. My daughter is
mixed with mermaid so I knew that my hair had to face a lot of salt and
chlorine and dealing with months of new growth every night was not something I
was looking forward to, I learned from a previous experience. My touch up was
done exactly like the one in September except I started to apply the relaxer from the front.
I have no length check for that touch up since flat ironing my hair to go
swimming was not logical. I feared the worse after my last salon visit but my
ends don’t seem terrible however one side of my hair is now thinner than the
other so my plan moving forward is to do a series of mini trims. </span><br />

<a href="https://hairdiary.files.wordpress.com/2013/10/hair-setback-alert2.jpg?w=300" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://hairdiary.files.wordpress.com/2013/10/hair-setback-alert2.jpg?w=300" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Yes, you read right, my 2<span style="font-size: x-small;">nd</span> setback! </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">I did not want to flat iron my hair until I got my next
touch-up so I went to a salon to get my hair roller set and everything that can go wrong went wrong. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><a name='more'></a>First, t</span><span style="font-family: Calibri;">he young lady who was
shampooing my hair had acrylic nails that needed to be filled so my hair kept
getting caught in her nails, after it happened the second time I asked for
someone else to shampoo my hair. I guess the new girl was not pleased that she
had to get up to shampoo and condition my hair because she was very rough; I
constantly had to tell her she was hurting my scalp. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">When that ordeal was over
and it was time to get my roller set done, detangling was a nightmare. First, I
had to tell her which comb to use since she immediately reached for a fine-tooth
comb, then she wanted to detangle from the roots. I instantly stopped her and
directed her to detangle from the ends go up, something I had to repeat with
each section, I started wondering if I was speaking a language she couldn’t
comprehend. I lost a lot of hair by the time she had finished roller setting my
hair and the roller set looked like crap, by this time I was pissed and fed up
and just wanted to get everything over with.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">I sat under the dryer and hoped
for the best but in my heart I knew the roller set was a lost cause, I knew I would
have to do the one thing I did not want to do in the first place, flat iron my
hair. When the rollers were taken out my hair looked like I air dried it rather
than roller set it. When she was about to flat iron my hair I made sure the
temperature was not more than 300 and I insisted she did no more than two
passes. It was just my luck that by the time she finished flat ironing my hair
the rain was falling. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">I had to deal with all that drama and still wasn’t able
to enjoy my hair. When I got home I took off a little more than an inch because
my hair looked and felt so thin. I need to take off some more but I hope to
clip little by little until my ends look nice and full again. I do not want to
cut four or five inches all at once so when I do my next touch-up I will see
how my ends look and proceed from there, hopefully I will be able to take off no
more than an inch or two at most at a time. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">I am washing my hands of hairdressers;
even after my first setback I was hoping to find someone I can occasionally go
to but two setbacks two years in a row is a sign from above! </span>Candicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11724240230103975162noreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1593988516625560192.post-53171420699869277142014-12-15T18:35:00.002-04:002014-12-15T18:35:29.930-04:00September 2014 Relaxer Touch-Up<h3>

<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Hi everyone, I’ve been MIA for quite some time but I
promised myself to get this post in before the end of the day. I have no idea
what is happening in the hair world at the moment since all I’ve been able to
do online is pin a few pins on Pinterest from my phone. My health is not 100%
so this is going to be short.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><a name='more'></a></span><span style="font-family: Calibri;">So from the heading you know that I did my last touch-up
at 14 weeks post. That relaxer stretch went well despite everything and the
only reason I ended the stretch was so that I can do one last touch-up before the
end of the year, I’m hopeful. I followed my usual steps; you can read about my last touch-up <a href="http://myhealthyhairdiary.blogspot.com/2014/06/june-2014-relaxer-touch-up.html" target="_blank">here</a>. My hair is bouncing back well from my December 2013 setback and I can’t wait to
see the comparison when I do my touch up after Christmas. This is how my hair
looked after my touch-up and trim in September.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Calibri;">I am finally arm pit length (APL)! It took me over two
years to get there but I did it, the journey continues! My next goal is to get
to bra strap length (BSL); hopefully I can get there by December 2015.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">I do hope and pray that everyone is doing well and I am
taking this time to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year as I
may not be back until January.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Calibri;">I was not very patient with my hair while detangling this
stretch, a long weekend was upon us and I had a lot of activities planned so I
decided to end my stretch rather than risk another setback due to impatience. For
this touch up I followed my usual steps before using the Affirm FiberGuard

with my hands. One other thing I don’t think I’ve ever mention is that I change
gloves at least once while applying the relaxer, it helps to limit the amount
of relaxer getting on my previously relaxed ends due to me holding/touching my
hair. Once I washed out the relaxer I took the following steps,</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Calibri;">I had to go out so I trimmed my ends after I got home later that night. My hair is coming along well and I am hoping to claim full APL by my next touch-up which should be in September or November. My personal rule when relaxer stretching is nothing
less than 12 weeks so a touch-up could happen anytime thereafter. This has been my shortest stretch since starting my hair journey and I have to admit that doing my own touch-ups is getting less appealing, I would really love to find someone I can trust to do my hair.</span><span style="font-family: Calibri;"> </span></div>

<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">My Assessment:<o:p></o:p></span></b><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">My daughter smelt this moisture milk and fell instantly
in love; it smells like vanilla ice cream, even I was tempted to taste it! This
product looks extremely thick in the bottle but it has the consistency of a
lotion. This leave-in cream did an amazing job of keeping my daughter’s hair moisturized;
it instantly absorbed and left her hair feeling incredibly soft for days, I had
to try it for myself. After using this as a moisturizer I was in love! It was a
winner for both of us, since she is natural and I am relaxed, I was overjoyed
at the fact that I had found a moisturizer that worked wonderful for the both
of us<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">. </b>This product was everything
we wanted in a moisturizer; smelt great, ingredient list was short and sweet,
good consistency and worked great! This moisture milk was so amazing we instantly
made it a staple and decided to stock up but when I got to the store this is
what I was meet with.................... <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><o:p></o:p></b></span><br />
<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span></b><br />
<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">New Ingredients:<o:p></o:p></span></b><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Deionized Water, Behentromonium Methosulfate and Cetearyl
Alcohol, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Oil, Aloe
Barbadenis Leaf, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Ternifolia (Macadamia Nut)
Seed Oil, Sorbitol, Camellia (Green Tea) Sinensis Leaf, Oryza Sativa (Rice)
Milk, Rosa Canina (Rose Hip) Seed Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol, Ceteareth 20, Slippery
Elm (Ulmus Fulva) bark, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Sorbic Acid, Scent and
<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"><span style="color: red;">Love</span></i></b>! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">The company reformulated the product so that they can
sell it at Target, I was disappointed and sceptical but I decided to give it a
try anyway. BIG MISTAKE!! They messed up a great product! The new formula smell
and look the same in the bottle but the similarities stop there. It is much
thicker now, so thick that you have to put up a fight to get it out the bottle.
It does not absorb or moisturize our strands like the old formula; instead we are
left with dry hair at the end of each day and product build up before the end
of the week. Saying that I’m disappointed is an understatement, IDK, maybe they were
short on <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"><span style="color: red;">“Love”</span></i></b> when they made this batch;
nevertheless I won’t be repurchasing this moisture milk. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Am I the only one who feels like companies kick you in
your gut and spit in your face when they “reformulate” a perfectly good product?

<span style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;">Protein is the building block of hair; it’s what gives hair its strength and structure. Hair is mainly comprised of a protein called <i>keratin</i></span></span><span style="font-size: small;">.</span><span style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;"> Every time we manipulate our hair it loses some of its protein, this is something that cannot be avoided, for this reason, we need to replenish what we lost through the use of protein treatments and conditioners. Proteins are not only used to strengthen the hair, some proteins act as humectants, they attract moisture to the hair, others also condition the hair. It is in your best interest to pay attention to the type of proteins in your hair products; this can help you determine which type of proteins your hair loves best. You may come across the word "hydrolyzed" in front of a protein name while going through the list of ingredients, this means that the protein has been broken down into smaller molecules to better penetrate the hair. Take a look at some of the most common proteins found in hair products and their benefits.</span></span></div>

<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span lang="EN-TT">One of the most common practices amongst
relaxed hair ladies on a healthy hair journey is relaxer stretching. Relaxer
Stretching refers to lengthening the time between touch ups. This helps to</span><a name='more'></a>
reduce relaxer overlap (relaxing previous relaxed hair) which causes thinning
and ultimately breakage. It also gives your scalp a much needed break from the harsh
chemicals. Some ladies regularly stretch for more than 6 months with little to
no issues only relaxing once or twice per year. Here are some tips that will help you stretch your
relaxer.<br />
<span lang="EN-TT"></span> </span><h3>
<span lang="EN-TT"></span><span lang="EN-TT" style="font-size: 12pt; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri;"><span style="mso-list: Ignore;">1.<span style="font-size-adjust: none; font-stretch: normal; font: 7pt/normal "Times New Roman";">
</span></span></span><!--[endif]--><span lang="EN-TT" style="font-size: 12pt;">Take baby steps:</span></h3>
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span lang="EN-TT" style="font-size: 12pt;"></span></b><span lang="EN-TT">If you are new to relaxer stretching
baby steps is key. If you usually touch-up every 6 weeks, start off by aiming
for 7 or 8 weeks and slowly increase the time period at every touch up. I
personally believe that <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">no less</b> than
10 weeks is ideal since that time frame gives you at least 1 inch of new growth
to work with when getting your touch-up.</span><br />
<span lang="EN-TT"></span> </span><h3>
<span lang="EN-TT"></span><span lang="EN-TT" style="font-size: 12pt; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri;"><span style="mso-list: Ignore;">2.<span style="font-size-adjust: none; font-stretch: normal; font: 7pt/normal "Times New Roman";">
